ART BASEL x RICHARD MILLE AFTER DARK

Wayne Boich’s annual Basel bash has quickly become my most anticipated event of the year! (Mostly, because Matt Brooks, leaves me literally in anticipation by never revelaing any of the event info prior to my arrival.) This year, the exclusive invite-only party was presented by Richard Mille, Don Julio 1942, and again partnered with one of my all time favorite brands, Armand de Briganc champagne. Celebrity guests included Dan Marino, Floyd Mayweather, Michael Bay, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and Alesso were in attendance.

I kicked off the night with an old school hiphop & dancehall set before Ruckus took over the decks. Shortly after, Wyclef, Nelly & 2 Chainz graced the stage to perform all our favorite hits. Nothing beats an intimate concert overlooking the Miami skyline under perfect fall weather… grateful to have been a part of the experience another year!

BETTER NIGHTS BASEL x MICKALENE THOMAS

The last time I collaborated with mixed-media artist Mickalene Thomas was back in 2013, when arriving to DJ at her Brooklyn exhibition she asked if I’d come with her to Switzerland for Art Basel. For an entire week overseas, she gave me the great honor of being her “in-house” DJ for her commissioned installation, “Better Days” at the Galerie Volkhaus.

When I heard from her studio manager in New York about a continuation to her installation almost 7 years later, and her invitation to return as the house DJ, you better believe I was 100% on board!

Channelling memories of her mother during the late 1970’s (and now into the early 80’s) Better Nights, creates a communal experience that celebrates the collective idea of family in all its multi-splendoured form. For the exhibition, features a 1970s-style home replete with faux wood panelling, wallpaper, and custom upholstered furnishings featuring Mickalene’s signature textiles. The walls adorned with  her work and those of friends and contemporaries including Nina Chanel Abney & Derrick Adams among others.

The immersive installation kicked off Basel Miami Beach and remained open every night hosting some of the most exclusive private parties for acclaimed press, art collectors, and even a night dedicated solely to the executives of Dior and celebrity guests Pietro Beccari, Lenny Kravitz and Barbara Becker. My all-vinyl sets (which all exclusively for Mickalene) included a variety of 80’s R&B & funk to compliment some of the musicians who took stage like Jody Watley and Meshell Ndegeocello.

Words can never explain the magic that takes place inside Mickalene’s installations, but I’m forever grateful to have be a part of them. They are forever  ingrained in my memory and in my heart.

CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN x ART BASEL

My favorite shoe store happened to throw an intimate reception during Art Basel and I was there to soundtrack the exclusive shopping experience. The beautiful Miami Design District store celebrated the signature, trademarked red lacquered soles with a limited edition feathered heel.

The french-inspired playlist included everything from Françoise Hardy to St. Germain, and even some classics from Moloko. Taking place during Miami’s busiest time of the year, Art Basel, the event brought the most artistic & fashionable though it’s doors.

MIAMI MAGAZINE ART ISSUE RELEASE PARTY

I love partnering with MIAMI Magazine, especially during Miami Art Week when they launch their most colorful issue of the year! The annual event is not only a commemoration to it’s cover artist, Marie-Laure Vareilles aka Mailo, but also kicks us off right to the start of Art Basel season.

This year’s event was held at the beautiful event space, Penthouse at Riverside Wharf with amazing 360 views of downtown Miami. Other event partners included, Zacapa rum & Creed who provided an exclusive fragrance bar and virtual reality experience. The room was filled with Modern Luxury’s loyal event-goers and Miami VIPs who danced all night to my Parisian-pop inspired dance set. Thank you Miami Magazine for having me back another year, already looking forward to the next one!

HOUSE OF PERONI

I’ve gotta give it to Peroni for putting together some of the most interesting installations. House of Peroni was created as a pop-up experience located in Palm Court in the heart of The Miami Design District. The 80’s era inspired House featured multi-media experiences designed after Italy’s eccentric ‘Memphis’ design movement. I kicked off opening night alongside a musical performance by Afrobeta.

Special invited guests enjoyed art and interactive installations, and of course, Peroni infused cocktails. The House remained a meeting place for collaboration and inspiration over the course of five days. I returned on the final day to perform a special daytime Parisian-pop DJ set that closed out the House. Thank you Peroni for the experience & constantly keeping creativity & culture alive.

MIAMI MAGAZINE ART BASEL ISSUE RELEASE PARTY

I love collaborating with Modern Luxury & represent my city’s official magazine, especially during one of my favorite times of the year, Art Basel. It was honor to soundtrack MIAMI Magazine’s Basel / December issue release party for a second consecutive year. More than 150 artists, creatives and VIPs filled the room at the top of East Miami in the new Brickell City Centre to celebrate the works by Ye Hongxing, whose art graced the cover of MIAMI’s December edition.

This annual event kicks off an extremely eventful Art Basel week and included a great mix of artists including  gallerist, Lexïng Zhang of Art Lexïng, local performers GMNI & Virgo to entertain all the senses. As always, Thank you MIAMI Magazine… looking forward to more events with you in 2017!

NEIMAN MARCUS x OCEAN DRIVE MAGAZINE

Ocean Drive Magazine along with sister publication Art Basel Magazine hosted the FURTIF ART PROJECT at Neiman Marcus Bal Harbour. The event showcased this season’s most sought-after and modern designers in a runway fashion show that I had a pleasure soundtracking. In the audience were Miami’s leading arts philanthropists, collectors and art lovers and participating artists TYPOE, AHOL and Santiago Rubino. Aside from the runway show, the night included a one-of-a-kind artistic collaboration with Roche Bobois and six notable talents to reimagine the iconic FURTIF desk. Heidi Klum, Venus Williams, RISK, Santiago Rubino, TYPOE, and AHOL each transformed the desks into works of art which are available for auction with proceeds benefiting one of Miami’s most notable and respected charity organizations, Lotus House. The auction of Heidi Klum’s design will benefit UNICEF. The FURTIF ART PROJECT will be on display at Roche Bobois’ Wynwood Miami Warehouse and available for auction through December 5 at www.biddingforgood.com/thefurtifartproject.

And just weeks before…

Another stylish night at Neiman Marcus Bal Harbour included 100 VIP members joined to preview a custom fashion presentation curated exclusively for the group redefining the new business casual dress code. Music for the fashion show was provided by myself and included a live musical performance by The Voice runner-up Karina Iglesias. As always, Thank you Neiman Marcus Bal Harbour for always thinking of me to curate the fashionable beats.

SHAKE-A-LEG 25th ANNIVERSARY GALA

Shake-A-Leg Miami celebrated its 25th anniversary with the Art of Sail Gala. The night welcomed more than 500 guests and raised more than $150,000 which will support the organization’s mission and commitment to all regardless of abilities or disabilities.

There were a number of notable artists included in the Art of Sail exhibit & in attendance including Miami favorite, Romero Britto. I provided the festive music alongside the multifaceted band, The French Horn Collective. The event’s biggest highlight however, was the moving fashion show which featured some disabled sailors and community notables as the models and showcased exclusive garments  made from recycled sails adding a unique and touching twist.

A big round of applause to my friends at Think Red, Inc for another great production & for having soundtrack such a momentous occasion.

MAISON & OBJET AMERICAS

As a lover of design, I was thrilled to DJ for Maison & Objet Americas for the second consecutive year. This time, the annual awards celebration took place at the iconic Moore Building in the Miami Design District. M&O is the french trade show that gathers professional players in decoration, furniture, home accessories & fabrics for home and design in search of innovation & emerging trends.

The event visits the states annually and is hosted here in Miami. This year’s Designer of the Year award went to Rafael de Cardenas. The event produced by client favorites, The Rally Agency, included incredible lighting & catering, a harpist and a Parisian inspired soundtrack by yours truly.

HAUTE LIVING x DANIEL MAZZONE x ART BASEL

Just one of the many of events I’m participating in throughout Miami in conjunction with Art Basel, still I was very excited for this one in particular as Haute Living & Alliance Bernstein celebrated the work of Daniel Mazzone, popular for his colorful collage work & dubbed “the next Andy Warhol,” by Elite Daily.

The exhibition was held at the 1 Hotel South Beach unveiling 24 never-before-seen pieces with 1,000 art collectors, enthusiasts and VIPs enjoying cocktails, conversation & curated music by me.
